Privacy Policy
Marriage-Ready Society ("we", "us") is a matchmaking service for adults who are looking for marriage. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021).
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the operator of Marriage-Ready Society, based in the United Arab Emirates. Contact: privacy@marriagereadysociety.com.
What we collect
- Account data: email address, password (stored only as a secure hash) or your Google account identifier, date of birth, language and time zone.
- Profile data: first name, gender, the gender and age range you would like to meet, city, country, languages and one photo.
- Your answers: your answers to our questions and your dealbreakers. Some optional questions may reveal religious or philosophical beliefs, which is special category data. Some questions are about money.
- Compatibility profile: scores we calculate from your answers (for example personality traits and attachment style). These are inferences, not facts about you.
- Identity check: the full name and statement of intention you type, a photo of your ID document and a live selfie. Comparing faces can involve biometric data.
- Activity data: picks and requests, conversations, blocks and reports.
- Consent records: which consents you gave or withdrew, when, and the version of the text.
- Technical data: basic logs needed to run and secure the service. We count page visits without storing who visited.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- Creating and running your account: performance of our contract with you.
- Calculating compatibility, including automated profiling of your answers: performance of contract; for special category data, your explicit consent.
- Confirming your identity with your ID and a selfie: your explicit consent.
- Reviewing photos, handling reports and keeping members safe: our legitimate interest in a safe service.
- Sending service emails (codes, requests, messages): performance of contract.
- Sending news emails: your consent (optional).
- Keeping consent records and meeting legal duties: legal obligation.
Automated compatibility scores
Your answers are analysed automatically to calculate compatibility scores with other members. These scores decide the order in which members appear to you; they have no legal effect on you. You can ask for a copy of your compatibility profile, ask us to explain how it is used, or object.
Who can see what
- Members whose identity is confirmed can see your first name, age, city, photo, your compatibility scores together, up to three short highlights, and your answers to the questions marked "Shown on your profile": what you hope your marriage will be, your marital status, whether you have children, and when you would like families to be involved.
- Members you are connected to (after a request is accepted) can also see your answers to the questions marked "Shared only with members you connect with", which are about money.
- Other members never see your other answers, your dealbreakers, your compatibility profile, your full name, your ID or your selfie.
- Family sharing (optional, off by default): if you create a family link, anyone who has the link can see your first name, age, city, country and the answers marked "Shown on your profile". If you switch it on in a chat, the family link of the person you are talking to can also show that same summary about you, with your compatibility score. Photos, messages, money answers and contact details are never shown. You can turn either one off at any time.
- Our review team sees what is needed to check identities and photos and to handle reports.
Service providers
We use Cloudflare (hosting, database and file storage), Resend (sending emails) and Google (optional sign-in). They process data on our behalf under contracts. Their servers may be outside your country; where data leaves the EU, UK or UAE we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data
- ID and selfie images: deleted as soon as our team makes a decision, and in any case within 30 days of upload if not yet reviewed.
- The full name and statement you typed: kept encrypted while your account exists, to protect members if a safety concern is reported.
- Account, profile, answers and conversations: while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete them within 30 days, except consent records, which we keep for up to 6 years to show we acted lawfully.
- Reports involving safety concerns: up to 2 years.
Your rights
You can access, correct, download or delete your data, withdraw any consent, object to processing, and ask us to restrict it. Most of this can be done in Settings; otherwise write to privacy@marriagereadysociety.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example in the country where you live.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Sensitive answers and the name and statement you type for your identity check are encrypted in our database. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
Age
The service is only for people aged 18 and over. We close accounts we believe belong to anyone younger.
Changes
We will tell members about material changes to this policy before they take effect.
