Our approach
A good marriage needs more than attraction. It needs two people who want a similar family life and who can live well together every day.
What we look at
Your answers help us understand four areas:
- Family: children, step-children, family involvement, living near family, caring for parents, and how you see work and home life.
- Personality and connection: personality, attachment style (how you behave when you feel close or distant), how you show and receive care, how you handle disagreements, and everyday lifestyle.
- Faith and values: the role of faith in your life, whether a shared faith matters to you, and other values that shape a home.
- Life plans: when you hope to marry, where you would like to live, career, money and the pace you would like.
Family comes first
Each area gets a score between 0 and 100. The total compatibility score is a weighted average of the areas you have both answered. By default, family counts for 35%, personality and connection for 30%, faith and values for 20%, and life plans for 15%.
For example, if two people score 90 on family, 60 on personality and connection, 80 on faith and values and 70 on life plans, their total is 0.35 x 90 + 0.30 x 60 + 0.20 x 80 + 0.15 x 70 = 76%.
Clear clashes count more
Some differences are hard to bridge in a marriage. When one person wants children and the other does not, when one person would prefer a partner without children and the other has them, or when a shared faith is essential to one person and your faiths differ, the score is lowered.
What we do not promise
No formula can guarantee a marriage. The compatibility score is our best estimate of how well two people may fit, and we review it as members tell us how their conversations and meetings go.
What others see
Other members see your scores together, a few highlights, and only the answers marked as shown on your profile. They never see your other answers, your dealbreakers or the personality profile we calculate from them.
